SCRIPTURE: "This is the law of the Nazarite, who vows his offering to the Lord in accordance with his separation, in addition to whatever else he can afford. He must fulfill the vow he has made, according to the law of the Nazarite." Numbers 6:21 OBSERVATION: The vow to abstain from grapes, wine and the cutting of one's hair, was a vow of sacrifice to bring one closer to the Lord. A vow to separate from the community in a manner of speaking, and to focus on commitment to God. APPLICATION: There are many kinds of sacrifices I can make for God. And while it is impractical for me not to cut my hair, like the Nazarite, I can abstain from other things to make my faith deeper and my walk closer. PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for the blessings of this day. I appreciate my life and the precious gifts you have given me that draw me closer to you. Help me to be an encourager to others. I love you Lord. Amen |
